Central Coast Christmas Mini Session
I honestly cannot believe I’m typing this. On one hand I’m like ‘where has the year gone?’ and on the other hand i’m thinking ‘WHERE HAS THE LAST 4 YEARS GONE?!’. When I started my Christmas Minis four years ago I used the front of the bar we have on our deck, it was totally rustic, had great natural light and a whole heap of space! I was so grateful to clients coming to my home for the first time and trusting me to capture their child/s Christmas photos. Every year it’s a joy for me to watch your kids grow as they transition from being babies, to becoming siblings and even to starting school 😱
Things are a little different this year, previously I would have an event on Facebook where everyone could book in their session and this year you’re now able to book your own session via my website, it’s MUCH more streamlined and takes out a lot of the guess work! I’ve put in all the info you need for your mini session in this blog post, if you still have questions feel free to email me :)
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR MINI SESSION
Due to the size of the set up this session is strictly for siblings only, if you wish to get some extra photos with cousins please book back to back sessions have to be booked with a maximum of 4 children.
When you book via the website I get you to fill out a few details, you’re given info to pay the deposit as well as terms and conditions of the shoot. I usually confirm your session 24-48 hours prior to your session starting. A $50 deposit is required at the time of booking with remaining amount due on the day which can be paid via cash, bank transfer or eftpos.
My studio is also my lounge room, it means it’s a nice safe and most of all relaxed space. I have an assistant and dear friend working with me on the day. Amy walks you through, takes payment, makes all sorts of noises to grab the attention of little kiddies and let me tell you the kids LOVE her, as a mum of two she is a total pro and has seen it all!
TIPS FOR A SMOOTH SESSION
I find it always helps to talk about the session when you book and even leading up to the shoot.
Please arrive on time, due to the nature of these session we run to a tight schedule and if you are late that runs into your session time.
Talk about the session before hand (eg.we’re going to see Ginny today to take some photos and have some fun!) let them know that Santa is watching and that I am the boss ;)
Talk about why we take these photos, ask them if they want a printed photo in their room when you get your photos back. Seeing themselves in print gives them so much confidence as well as a sense of belonging and importance in the family unit.
Be relaxed the morning of! I can’t stress this enough, children really feed off our stress and anxiety so it’s important to be chilled and look forward to the session. Trust me, we always get the shot ;)
You’re always welcome to bring a favourite teddy or Christmas book to add a personal touch to your photos
WHAT TO WEAR
In the hopes of taking some of the guess work out of what colours to dress your little ones in, I have provided some colour pallets that will go well with our set up.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY PHOTOS

Arlo's newborn shoot
Arlo arrived into the world at a comfortable 4.3 kgs (9 pounds 8 ounces). I don’t know what is in the water but lately all the babies who have been coming into my studio have been a mini mum 4kg or at least 55cm long - I take my hat of to the mothers who birth these babies!.
Coming into the studio were his parents Sarah and Tim and one super proud big brother Landyn - who reminded me very much of my own JJ. Mum had requested some posed photos of baby Arlo but also natural family and sibling images, I feel like the simple colours and set ups from this session really complimented this gorgeous family and we certainly had a really nice time talking about everything from work to our babies starting school next year 😭
One of the family images from this shoot also earned a bronze award in in the International Rise Photographer Awards which is an outstanding achievement!
Super proud big brother!
Central Coast Photographer, PiP Family Mini session
Michelle contacted me to take advantage of my Playing in Puddles offer (still available!) to get some updated photos of her family.
Nathan + Adam are like chalk and cheese when it comes to their personalities but they’re both equally cheeky! We had a lot of fun at this location and enjoyed the sunshine.
Michelle’s review is at the end :)
“‘Ginny is so lovely to deal with and took some amazing photos of our family! She made us all comfortable straight away during our session and did an awesome job getting beautiful photos while easily managing our 2 boys who were in very high spirits.’”
Twins and a baby!
When Emma and I were discussing her goals for her newborn shoot she wanted to make sure we would get photos of the siblings together, one of just her 14 months old twin girls, a sleepy photo of Bub and a nice family photo. The best thing you can do as a client is to communicate your concerns, your goals and any questions you have so everyone can be relaxed and enjoy the your time in the studio!
Sibling photos can be difficult at the best of times, 14 month old twins is another ball game all together, but with a lot of team work we did it! Hats off to mum and dad, I’m sure home life can get a little bit full on but they’re obviously amazing parents to have such well behaved, gorgeous girls!
Here is a selection of their chosen images 💕

Extended Family Shoot
When Cara contacted me to do her family’s photos I knew it was going to be fun! I had an outdoor maternity session with Cara and her boys back in feb last year and her twins made me work for it (they’re the pure definition of double trouble 😂) but it was so much fun and I honestly loved their cheekiness. When the time came for Olivers cake smash, the twins were their usual cheeky selves nearly tucking into the cake before Oliver even had a chance 😂.
I love big family shoots, I know as a photographer it can be a little bit more difficult dealing with more people than usual but i really loved it, and I love that these photos will be cherished in the years to come. Coming from a large extended family I knew how cherished these images will be, but I also wanted to make sure we actually had fun so the smiles were genuine 😉
There is SO much to remember when it comes to these shoots, and I love them! Being the youngest in my family I’m used to my family dynamic and getting attention when needed (I’m pretty loud on the best of days) so that part is totally fine. But it’s the intricate nature of larger families, the partners who have married into the family, the sisters, the grandparents, the cousins, the aunties, the siblings, the parents - theres a lot of special relationships in there that NEED to be captured authentically and while I love posed shot, it’s all the little moments in between that really make you smile when looking at these images.
Happy Viewing!
